The Western Michigan Broncos fell to 1-3 (0-0 MAC-West) on the season after getting defeated by the number one ranked Ohio State Buckeyes 38-12 in late September. The Broncos were outgained by a 511-338 margin in the game and couldn’t get many key stops against the Buckeyes offensive as the Ohio State went 8-13 on 3rd down. Daniel Braverman had a big game for the Broncos as the slot receiver had 10 receptions for 123 yards and a TD. On the season, Western Michigan is averaging 26.3 ppg and have been led by QB Zach Terrell who on the season is completing 67.1% of his passes for 1116 yards, 10 TD, and 6 Int. The Broncos are led at WR by Daniel Braverman (50 receptions, 521 yards, 4 TD) and Corey Davis (24 receptions, 351 yards, 3 TD). The rushing attack for Western Michigan has been led by Jarvion Franklin who had 310 yards and a TD on 64 carries. Defensively, Western Michigan is allowing their opponents to average 34.5 ppg on the season. The Broncos have been hampered by turnovers as they are currently have a minus-5 turnover margin. Western Michigan will need to try to get more pressure on the QB as they currently have only registered two sacks on the season. Leading the way for the defense has been DB Asantay Brown (33 tackles) and LB Robert Spillane (27 tackles).
The Chippewas are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games in October. The Broncos are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games in October.
Both Central Michigan and Western Michigan have played some tough non-conference schedules and are better than each of their overall records indicate. Central Michigan has a solid QB in Cooper Rush but lack other playmakers on offensive. Western Michigan has a great playmaker is RB Jarvion Franklin and as they’ve gained some great experience already playing Ohio State and Michigan State this season, I think the Broncos open up their conference schedule with a convincing victory at home. Take the Broncos to cover the spread.
