The Georgia State Panthers take their passing attack on the road to face the Ball State Cardinals.
The Georgia State Panthers possess one of the top passing attacks in the land but their defense has struggled and finding the end zone has been difficult. Both trends continued in week six in a 37-3 defeat to visiting Appalachian State. ASU took a 20-3 lead in to the second half and kept their foot on the gas with nearly 500 yards of offense and the Panthers couldn’t keep pace on 225 yards and 24 minutes of possession. The air game struggled with GSU getting 166 yards and an interception from Nick Arbuckle who completed 21-37. Penny Hart led Georgia State with five catches for 47 yards while Kyler Neal was tops on the ground with 47 yards on nine touches.

The Ball State Cardinals had struggled to put up points in back to back defeats and then found the scoring touch in week six only to watch Northern Illinois score at will in a 59-41 loss for their third straight defeat. The Cardinals moved the ball with ease with over 500 yards but the balanced Huskies racked up 636 yards and ran or threw as they wanted. BSU had no rushing attack to lean on with Darian Green and James Gilbert combining for 82 yards on 24 carries. The Cardinals had to rely on the passing of Riley Neal who did plenty of damage with 393 yards and four touchdowns and an interception on a 31-53 effort. Jordan Williams and KeVonn Mabon were Ball State’s receiver’s of choice with 15 catches for 207 yards with Mabon scoring.
The over is 7-0-1 in Panthers last 8 games after accumulating less than 275 total yards in their previous game and is 6-0 in Panthers last 6 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game while going 5-0-1 in Panthers last 6 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game. The Cardinals are 0-5 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games while the over is 4-0 in Cardinals last 4 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game. I think Ball State can score enough to cover if their defense isn’t a sieve…
