The Northwestern Wildcats look to get back in the win column when the Iowa Hawkeyes pay a visit.
The Iowa Hawkeyes have managed the scoreboard well through six games and the result is a 6-0 record. The Hawkeyes are coming off of a 29-20 victory against visiting Illinois where they easily outgained the Illini 478-363 and forced a pair of turnovers. Quarterback CJ Beathard was adequate in the air for the Hawkeyes by hitting on 15-31 for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns with Jerminic Smith logging four receptions for 118 yards. Jordan Canzieri gave Iowa a monster performance on the ground with 256 yards on 43 carries with a trip to the end zone. Overall the Hawkeyes did not finish off drives and allowed a couple of big plays.

The Northwestern Wildcats took a 5-0 record on the road to Michigan and were completely dominated on both sides of the football in a 38-0 defeat. I thought the Wildcats had a shot at winning as a double digit underdog but I was singing a different tune with the Wolverines up 21-0 at the half. Michigan held a 380-168 advantage in yardage and had a 96 yard kick return for a TD on the opening kickoff. Quarterback Clayton Thorson needed a big day to give Northwestern a chance but he was just 13-27 for 106 yards with a pick six. That was prolific compared to the Northwestern rushing attack that was fortunate to gain two yards on a carry.
The over is 4-0-2 in Hawkeyes last 6 games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game and is 6-1-2 in Hawkeyes last 9 games following a S.U. win while going 6-1-2 in Hawkeyes last 9 vs. a team with a winning record. The under is 8-1 in Wildcats last 9 games after accumulating less than 275 total yards in their previous game and is 7-1 in Wildcats last 8 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game while the Wildcats are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a SU loss of more than 20 points. The favorite is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings and the home team is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings while the under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Northwestern. Iowa should have won by double figures against Illinois and N’Western was simply awful. Having said that I believe the Wildcats are a decent squad and getting a field goal surprises me…
