The Minnesota Golden Gophers look for the upset of the rival Michigan Wolverines in week nine.
The Michigan Wolverines saw their five game winning streak come to an end by a 27-23 count to Michigan State on a blocked punt return on the last play of the game. The Spartans led 386-230 in real estate while Michigan lost a fumble. The Wolverines passing attack needed to stretch the field but that didn’t happen with quarterback Jake Rudock completing 15-25 for 168 yards with Jehu Chesson and Amara Darboh combining for 110 yards on seven receptions. The Michigan rushing attack was a non factor with around two yards per carry so the game was surprisingly close despite Michigan’s offensive woes.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers are right in the mix for a postseason berth but with head coach Jerry Kill abruptly resigning due to health concerns so where this team goes from this point is anybody’s guess. Hopefully things will be better then their 48-25 rout at the hands of visiting Nebraska where the balanced Cornhuskers able to run and throw their way to a 464-366 edge in yards. Minnesota received 301 passing yards from quarterback Mitch Leidner with a touchdown and a pair of interceptions including a pick six. KJ Maye caught eleven balls for 94 yards and Eric Carter logged four receptions for 91 yards and a score but the rushing attack did nothing.
The Wolverines are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss and are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games after accumulating less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game while the Wolverines are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss. The under is 4-0 in Golden Gophers last 4 games following a double-digit loss at home and the Golden Gophers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a bye week while going 0-4 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. The Wolverines are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings in Minnesota and the over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings while the Wolverines are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 meetings. I don’t usually play on emotion but I expect a big effort from Minnesota for their coach….
