The Texas Longhorns travel to Jack Trice Stadium to battle conference rival the Iowa State Cyclones.
The Texas Longhorns have lost respect over the past several seasons and appeared to be in trouble in 2015 before back to back wins has a Bowl invitation still there for the taking. The Longhorns are coming off of a 23-9 win versus Kansas State I which they held a 373-242 yardage edge with an interception. Quarterback Jerrod Heard didn’t give Texas much of a passing threat with 99 yards on 10-15 but he did add 61 yards with his legs. Jonathan Gray led the Texas rushing attack with 103 yards on 18 carries while Tyrone Swoopes and D’Onta Foreman combining for 93 yards with Swoopes scoring three times.

The Iowa State Cyclones can not afford another loss or the postseason will be out of their grasp. The Cyclones haven’t been scoring a ton of points but too many points have been allowed and that trend continued in a 45-27 defeat at Baylor in week eight for loss number three in a row. This was 35-0 at the half with the Bears racking up 485 yards while ISU totaled 388 yards and committed four turnovers which killed their chances. Quarterback Sam Richardson was lifted after completing 3-11 with a pair of interceptions before Joel Lanning came on to throw for 144 yards and three touchdowns. The Iowa State rushing attack was led by Mike Warren with 145 yards while Quenton Bundrage paced the receivers with four catches for 69 yards and a pair of TD’s.
The Longhorns are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games on grass and the under is 5-0 in Longhorns last 5 road games while going 5-0 in Longhorns last 5 games on grass. The under is 8-0 in Cyclones last 8 games following a S.U. loss and the Cyclones are 0-5-1 ATS in their last 6 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game while the under is 5-0-1 in Cyclones last 6 home games. Road team is 7-2 ATS in their last 9 meetings. The Longhorns seem to be finally seeing an upswing so I’ll see if it continues.
