The Brigham Young Cougars travel to Spartan Stadium to take the field with the San Jose State Spartans.
The Brigham Young Cougars seem to be thriving despite the loss of Taysom Hill and their 6-2 record says as much. The Cougars have won four in a row following a 70-6 beat down of Wagner as 51 point favorite. Wagner probably had second thoughts about scheduling this one with BYU ahead 49-0 at the half on the way to a 741-129 mismatch in yardage. The Cougars used three quarterbacks with Tanner Mangum throwing for 237 yards and three scores with Beau Hoge passing for 117 yards and a TD while Koy Detmer Jr. rounded things out with 57 yards. 13 receivers caught passes while the RB tandem of Algernon Brown and Nate Carter combined for 211 yards on 16 carries and three TD’s.

The San Jose State Spartans hopefully used their week bye to get their heads clear and prepare for the stretch run because they can’t afford to slipup or the postseason will be gone. The Spartans are coming off of a 32-21 win versus visiting New Mexico where they rolled up nearly 500 yards and held the Lobos to 335 yards and forced a running team to throw with little success. Quarterback Kenny Potter managed the game well with 181 passing yards with a pair of touchdowns with Hansel Wilson and Billy Freeman catching touchdown passes. The San Jose rushing attack was in great hands with Tyler Ervin amassing 263 yards on 35 touches and a trip to the end zone.
The over is 5-0 in Cougars last 5 vs. MWC and the Cougars are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a bye week while going 1-5 ATS in their last 6 vs. MWC. The Spartans are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games in November and are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game while the over is 6-0 in Spartans last 6 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. The Cougars appear to be on a roll and should be a handful for the Spartans…
