The Florida State Seminoles are 9-2 this season and while they aren’t headed to the College Football Playoff they don’t need any motivation in this one. The Florida State offense is averaging 32.8 points and 435.9 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 10 times. Sean Maguire has taken over as QB for FSU and he has completed 65 percent of his passes with eight touchdowns and two interceptions. Dalvin Cook leads the Seminoles rushing attack with 1,475 yards and 16 touchdowns and Travis Rudolph and Kermit Whitfield each have 51 receptions and six touchdowns each. The Florida State defense is allowing 17 points and 333.6 yards per game with seven interceptions, seven fumble recoveries, and 25 sacks. Reggie Northrup leads Florida State with 78 tackles, Derwin James has 68 tackles, and DeMarcus Walker has 8.0 sacks. Florida State as suffered from an inconstant offense but they still have NFL talent across the board.
Florida is 5-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 5-2 against the spread in their last seven non-conference games, and 10-4 against the spread in their last 14 games. Florida State is 4-0 against the spread in their last four games, 4-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 7-15 against the spread following a win. The favorite has covered the point spread in 13 of the last 17 meetings of these two.
Florida has played a soft schedule for an SEC team missing most of the best teams and losing to LSU and while this isn’t the same Florida State team we have become accustomed to in recent years they are the better team here and win easily.
