The Texas State Bobcats snapped a three game losing streak and improved to 3-7 (2-4 Sun Belt) on the season after they were able to defeat Louisiana Monroe Warhawks, 16-3, this past Thursday. Texas State got a great effort from their defense in the victory as they were able to outgain Louisiana Monroe by a 334-181 margin and forced the Warhawks into committing two turnovers. Leading the way for the Bobcats was WR Lawrence White who had 83 yards and 2 TD on five receptions. On the season, Texas State is averaging 27.5 ppg on 411.6 total yards per game (221.3 passing, 190.3 rushing). Idaho found themselves down 35-14 by halftime in the loss and although they did outgain Auburn by a 479-460 margin, they did commit three turnovers. Leading the way for the Vandals was WR Callen Hightower who had 161 yards and a TD on 8 receptions. Leading the way for Idaho has been QB Matt Linehan who has completed 62.8% of his passes for 14 TD, 11 INT while averaging 266.3 passing yds/game. Linehan has also done a little damage with is legs as he has 4 rushing TD’s on the season while averaging 21.90 rushing yds/game. RB Elijhaa Penny has had a solid season out of the Idaho backfield as he has 8 TD’s and is averaging 92.18 yds/game. Dezmon Epps has been incredible at the WR position for the Vandals as he although he has just 2 TD’s on the season, Epps is averaging 10.2 receptions for 126.2 yds/game. Defensively, Idaho is allowing their opponents to average 43.1 ppg on 486.3 total yards per game (205.5 passing, 280.7 rushing). The Vandals have committed 21 turnovers on the season and have a turnover margin of -6.
The Bobcats are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games in November and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS win. The Vandals are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following at S.U. loss and 4-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
This should be a game that features little defense as Texas State and Idaho is combining to give up more than 1000 yards of total offense a game. Texas State got a nice win at Louisiana Monroe however, as the Warhawks are just 1-10 on the season and have yet to win a conference game, it’s not what you would call a big victory. Idaho certainly has displayed that they can put up points, however, over their last 4 games they are giving up an average of 52.5 ppg. I expect this to be a shootout and as of right now, I'm leaning on taking the home team in Idaho to cover this small spread.
