Southern Cal Trojans vs. Stanford Cardinal - 12/5/15 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Southern California Trojans are 8-4 and are coming off of a win against UCLA by a score of 40-21. USC needed to win that game to get into the conference championship, and they dominated the Bruins. The USC offense is averaging 36 points per game with 457.4 yards per game. Cody Kessler leads the USC offense with 3128 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. Ronald Jones II leads the USC offense with 890 yards and 7 touchdowns. JuJu Smith-Schuster is the leading receiver for USC with 1302 yards and 10 touchdowns. The USC defense is giving up 24.7 points per game with 400 yards per game. USC’s defense has 36 sacks, 9 fumble recoveries, and 14 interceptions. USC has had a roller coaster of a year, but has been playing some great football in the last 6 games, with their only slip up coming against a high-powered Oregon team.

Stanford played at USC earlier this season, with Stanford winning the game by a score of 41-31. This was a back and fourth game, with USC leading late in the third quarter. Stanford took the lead on a 1-yard run 4:55 left in the third quarter, and was able to outscore USC 10-3 in the fourth quarter. Stanford had 474 yards, 26 first downs, and 39:29 of time of possession. USC had 427 yards, 20 first downs, and 20:31 of time of possession. Penalties hurt USC, who had 87 penalty yards on 8 penalties.

Stanford is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 neutral site games. Stanford is 6-0 ATS in their last 6 December games. The under is 4-1 in Stanford’s last 5 conference games. USC is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following an ATS win. The under is 7-1-1 in USC’s last 9 December games. The underdog is 4-0 ATS in these two teams last 4 meetings.

This should be a great game between two teams that are very familiar with one another. Stanford has one of the better rushing attacks in the country, but USC has a top 30-rush defense. Whoever can control the line of scrimmage, will have a huge advantage in this game. USC will try to pass the ball against the 72nd ranked Stanford pass defense, which is an advantage for USC. Beating a team twice in one season is very tough to do, so I am taking USC and the points in this one.
