Former conference rivals the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and Arkansas State Red Wolves meet in the New Orleans Bowl.

The Arkansas State Red Wolves were expected to be a challenger in the Sun Belt and won it with an 8-0 conference mark. Plenty of offense at 41 points and 29 points allowed. Michael Gordon was the choice at running back with 1,065 yards while Warren Wand and Johnston White combing for over 1,200 yards.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs had won four straight before falling to Southern Miss in the season finale’ cost them a spot in the CUSA title game. The Bulldogs outscored opponents 37-27 with one of the top run D’s and weaker pass defenses doing enough to control the scoreboard. La Tech averaged 465 yards behind the #15 air attack that totaled 311 yards. Former Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel was dynamite with nearly 3,600 yards with 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Trent Taylor was the gem of the Bulldogs receivers with 89 catches for 1,133 yards with Carlos Henderson totaling 721 yards on 35 receptions. When Louisiana Tech ran it was Kenneth Dixon who ran for 971 yards and 17 touchdowns with a 5.5 yard average.
