The UCLA Bruins and the Nebraska Cornhuskers face off on Saturday Night in College Football’s Foster Farms Bowl.
The UCLA Bruins finished the regular season at 8-4 that is considered a disappointment for a team that had high expectations coming into the year. The UCLA offense is averaging 32.5 points and 472.4 yards per game and they turned the ball over 17 times. Bruins QB Josh Rosen completed 59.5 percent of his passes with 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions and he rushed for two touchdowns. Paul Perkins leads the UCLA ground attack with 1,275 yards and 13 touchdowns and Jordan Payton is the top receiver with 75 catches and four touchdowns. The UCLA defense is allowing 25.1 points and 393.3 yards per game with 12 interceptions, six fumble recoveries, and 27 sacks. Jayon Brown is the Bruins top tackler with 88, Kenny Clark has 64 tackles including 5.0 sacks, and Aaron Wallace has 7.0 sacks. UCLA was hoping this was going to be a magical year that landed them in the playoffs but they really weren’t even close.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers finished the season at 5-7 and because not enough teams finished the regular season with six or more wins they were given a spot in a bowl game. Nebraska’s offense is averaging 32.5 points and 442.5 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 26 times. Huskers QB Tommy Armstrong Jr. has completed 54.8 percent of his passes with 21 touchdowns and 16 interceptions and he has rushed for 324 yards and six touchdowns. Terry Newby leads Nebraska in rushing with 743 yards and five touchdowns and Jordan Westerkamp is the top receiver with 63 catches and seven touchdowns. The Nebraska defense is allowing 27.8 points and 401.6 yards per game with eight interceptions, five fumble recoveries, and 24 sacks. Nate Gerry leads the Nebraska defense with 75 tackles and four interceptions, Joshua Kalu has 67 tackles, and Byerson Cockrell has 65 tackles. Nebraska lost a few tough close games or else their season could have been a different story.
UCLA is 6-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread and 4-1 against the spread against the Big Ten. Nebraska is 8-3 against the spread following a loss, 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 non-conference games, and 1-4 against the spread against the Pac-12.
Both if these defenses have their issues and these offenses turn the ball over in bunches so we can expect a wild one and I look for it to go over the total.
