The Southern Miss Golden Eagles are 9-4 this year winning their final six games of the regular season before losing to Western Kentucky in the conference Championship game. Most of Southern Miss’ wins came against light competition with their only win over a bowl team was beating La. Tech while their other losses were to Nebraska, Marshall, and Mississippi State. The Golden Eagles offense is averaging 40.6 points and 519.8 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 25 times. USM QB Nick Mullens has completed 63.4 percent of his passes with 36 touchdowns and 12 interceptions and he has rushed for three touchdowns. D’Nerius Antoine leads the Golden Eagles with 93 tackles, Brian Anderson has 83 tackles, and Dylan Bradley has 6.5 sacks. Southern Miss was one of the biggest surprises in all of college football this season.
Washington is 5-1 against the spread after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game and 5-1 against the spread in their last six December games. Southern Miss is 4-1against the spread following a loss, 10-3 against the spread in their last 13 games, and 6-0 against the spread in their last six non-conference games.
While both defenses are solid I still see plenty of scoring so my free pick is over the total that is set at 55 but I wouldn’t consider this one of my stronger plays.
