The South Carolina Gamecocks go on the road to take the field with the Vanderbilt Commodores to open 2016.
The South Carolina Gamecocks have turned to former Florida head coach Wil Muschamp to right the ship. Muschamp will be going with youth under center with freshman Brandon Mcllwain to begin the year with Deebo Samuel leading the receiving corps with Bryan Edwards and Jamari Smith also sure to see plenty of balls thrown their way. The Gamecocks return David Williams in the rushing attack that will also feature AJ Turner running behind an offensive line with three starters gone. The offense averaged around 22 points and South Carolina will need more then that to compete in the SEC.

Fans of Vanderbilt Commodores football know two things: the defense was a top squad on a national level while the offense struggled to find the endzone. Vandy will go with Kyle Shurmur under center and the team returns most of their top receiving options with Trent Sherfield, Caleb Scott and CJ Duncan coming back from injury although throwing the ball wasn’t exactly a strong suit. The Commodores did have limited success on the ground behind Ralph Webb who has six lineman with starting experience to open up some running lanes but the offense averaged a mere 15 points in 2015 and need help everywhere.
The under is 7-2-1 in Gamecocks last 10 Thursday games and is is 3-1-1 in Gamecocks last 5 games in September while South Carolina are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games on fieldturf. The under is 7-0-1 in Commodores last 8 games on fieldturf and is 6-0-1 in Commodores last 7 home games while going 4-0-1 in Commodores last 5 games in September. The home team is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings and the under is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings. My first thought here is why would somebody bet this?
