Davis Wade Stadium and the Mississippi State Bulldogs hope to avoid the upset bid of the South Alabama Jaguars.
The South Alabama Jaguars are generally known for their defense and controlling the scoreboard. The Jaguars passing attack will be an are that needs improvement and that will fall on the shoulders of quarterback Dallas Davis even though he has virtually no passing experience. Tight end Gerald Everett wast the top receiving option in 2015 but wide receivers Josh Magee, Tyrone Williams and Kevin Kutchera have to give the team production. USA will lean on Xavier Johnson and Tyeis Thomas give the running game potential but the offensive line has to gel with only two starters returning.
USA TODAY Sports
The face of the Mississippi State Bulldogs football program lost it’s face in quarterback Dak Prescott although new QB Nick Fitzgerald having some experience although he is no Prescott. The Bulldogs passing attack will depend largely on how often Fitzgerald can hook up with Donald Gray, Fred Ross and Jesse Jackson. The Mississippi State Bulldogs get back Brandon Holloway and Aeris Williams who will ply their trade behind an offensive line that gets back three starters. This will be a tough Bulldogs squad to predict with some new faces and new schemes which might actually cause some problems for opponents in the always tough SEC.
The under is 4-0 in Jaguars last 4 versus SEC and the over is 6-0 in Jaguars last 6 non-conference games while going 4-0 in Jaguars last 4 games in September. The over is 4-0 in Bulldogs last 4 non-conference games and the Bulldogs are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games in September while the under is 5-2 in Bulldogs last 7 versus the Sun Belt. USA is not great and the Bulldogs win easily but I don’t know if they care to run up the score…
