The Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles travel to Commonwealth Stadium to butt heads with the Kentucky Wildcats.
The Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles are under new leadership with Jay Hobson roaming the sidelines. Hopson inherits a fully rebuilt squad and has tremendous talent under center in Nick Mullens who lit up opposing secondary’s for nearly 4,500 yards and 38 scores although approaching those numbers will have to happen without their two top receivers back. That means the Golden Eagles will be looking for Marquise Ricard, DJ Thompson and Korey Robertson need to step up among the receiving corps. Ito Smith tops the Southern Miss rushing attack which should be productive with three O-Linemen returning.

Mark Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats held their own defensively at 27 points allowed in 2015 but 24 points scored was on the low side. With UK quarterback Drew Barker taking over the passing game with Patrick Towles transferring out of the program. How effective Barker throws is a wait and see scenario but he certainly doesnot lack for options with every receiver back with Dorian Baker, Jeff Badet and Garrett Johnson looking like the starters. The Kentucky rushing attack has potential on paper with Boom Williams having 1,000 yard potential while Jojo Kemp is a solid compliment especially with six players returning with starting experience on the line.
The Golden Eagles are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games in September and the Golden Eagles are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games while the over is 4-1 in Golden Eagles last 5 games overall. The over is 6-0 in Wildcats last 6 non-conference games and is 4-0-1 in Wildcats last 5 home games while Kentucky are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall. Southern Miss is better then most think…
