The Notre Dame Fighting travel to the Lone Star State to take the field with the Texas Longhorns.
I readily admit I’m not a fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish but I will say they do play a tough schedule and I’d be remiss for not giving them credit in that regard. The Fighting Irish might find their schedule more palatable if starting quarterback DeShone Kizer proves himself in the passing attack. ND has a quality receiving corps in Miles Boykin, Mike McGlinchey and Corey Holmes if Kizer can get them the ball on a steady basis. Notre Dame will lean on the backfield of Tarean Foster and Josh Foster if the offensive line comes together which it will. The Irish receivers might not be well known but when does this team field anyone who doesn’t have big time credentials.

I think we all expect the Texas Longhorns to be above average defensively but the question is can the offense lend a hand and put points on the scoreboard. Will quarterback Shane Buechele be the man to lead Texas to the chains and find the endzone on a consistent basis? Generally speaking the ‘Horns receiving corps of Collin Amanti, John Burt Armanti Foreman and others don’t have track records that tell us the passing attack will be productive. Texas will lean on D’Onta Foreman and Chris Warren to grind out the rushing yards behind an offensive line that loses one player so hopefully the ground game takes pressure off of the passing attack.
The under is 4-1 in Fighting Irish last 5 versus the Big 12 and the o ver is 8-2 in Fighting Irish last 10 road games while the Fighting Irish are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games in September. The Longhorns are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 versus independents and the Longhorns are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 non-conference games while the under is 23-10 in Longhorns last 33 games overall. I think Texas can hang here so I’ll take the points…
