The Akron Zips have a tall task in the Wisconsin Badgers on the road in week number two.
The Wisconsin Badgers weren’t given much respect as a 12.5 point home dog against LSU but they have the Tigers respect following a 16-14 victory. The Badgers mustered 339 yards and allowed 257 in a defensive battle so the offense was bailed out by their ‘D’ that forced three turnovers and overcame three giveaways. Wisky quarterback Bart Houston struggled the entire afternoon, going 15-31 for 205 yards and a pair of interceptions including a near fatal pick six. Troy Fumagalli was the Badgers go to receiver with seven catches for 100 yards but the ground game was just effective enough with Corey Clement posting 86 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries while Dare Ogunbowale added 44 yards on nine totes.

The Akron Zips overcame a slow first half to rout VMI 47-24 as a 29 point favorite in their season opener. The boxscore heavily favored the Zips who rolled up 576-386 yardage edge with a whopping 424 yards coming through the air. Akron ran sparingly but ran effectively with Warren Ball totaling 110 yards on 18 carries and a five yard scoring scamper. However, quarterback Thomas Woodson and the Akron passing game stole the show as he completed 23-32 for 407 yards for six touchdowns and an interception. Jerome Lane paced the receiving corps with 196 yards on ten receptions and two scores while Jojo Natson caught four passes for 90 yards and three touchdowns.
The Zips are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game and are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up win while the under is 4-0 in Zips last 4 versus Big Ten. The under is 5-0 in Badgers last 5 vs. a team with a winning record and is 4-0 in Badgers last 4 non-conference games while the Badgers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. MAC. If Wisconsin plays as capable 35 points won’t be enough. I’m hoping they don’t care to destroy the Zips…
