The Line: Boise State Broncos -12 -- Over/Under: 69 See the Latest Odds

The Washington State Cougars will travel to Albertsons Stadium to take on the Boise State Broncos this Saturday night in College Football action.

For the second straight season, the Washington State Cougars couldn’t defeat an FCS opponent in their season opening matchup at home as the Cougars were defeated by the Eastern Washington Eagle 45-42. Eastern Washington is one of the better FCS teams in the country, however, Mike Leach’s cougars were on the border line of being a top-25 team entering this season, and have to still be in disbelief that their 2016 season has started with another loss. Washington State had no answers for the Eastern Washington offense as the Cougars were outgained by a 606-515 margin. Offensively, Washington State QB Luke Falk led the Cougars completed 41 of 51 passes for 418 yards, 4 TD’s, and a INT. Gabe Marks (10 rec, 108 yards, 2 TD) and Robert Lewis (4 rec, 67 yards) led the way for the Cougars WR’s. Leading the rushing attack was RB Gerard Wicks who had 52 yards and a TD on 10 carries. Defensively, the Cougars had no answers for Eastern Washington’s QB, Gabe Gubrud, who completed 34 of 40 passes for 474 yards, 5 TD’s, and an INT while adding an additional 77 yards and a TD on the ground. The Cougars defense made some major strides last season however only returns 6 starters and showed in their season opener that they could struggle against the pass. Leading the way for the Washington State defense was LB Peyton Pelluer (10 tackles) and DB Marcellus Pippins (2 tackles, 1 INT).

Boise State vs. Washington State - 9/10/16 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Boise State Broncos raced out to a 35-3 halftime lead and had no problem opening their season with a win after defeating the Louisiana Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns, 45-10. Boise State was impressive on both ends of the field as the outgained Louisiana Lafayette by a 584-267 margin. Leading the way offensively for Boise State was RB Jeremy McNichols who had 9 carries for 48 yards and 2 TD’s while also catching 3 passes for 98 yards and a TD. QB Brett Rypien completed 22 of 33 passes for 347 yards and 2 TD’s. Thomas Sperbeck (6 rec, 130 yards, 1 TD) and Cedrick Wilson (7 rec, 113 yards, 1 TD) led the way for the Boise State receivers. Defensively, Boise State was one of the best in 2015 and although they only returned five starters from that unit, the Broncos looked as dominating as ever against the Ragin Cajun’s offensive. The Broncos were outstanding against the rush as they held Louisiana Lafayette to just 81 rushing yards and an average of just 2.0 yds/carry. The Broncos weren’t able to force any turnovers however did get a good amount of pressure on the QB as Boise State registered 5 sacks. Leading the way for the Broncos was DL Sam McCaskill (4 tackles, 2 sacks) and LB Tanner Vallejo (9 tackles).

The Cougars are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up loss and 7-0 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. The Broncos are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games however, just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games.

This should be an exciting game on Saturday night as both of these offenses know how to put up points on the board. Washington State will have trouble slowing down a very good Boise State offense however, at the same time, Boise State lost their best two DB’s from last season and I think the Cougars and QB Luke Falk, will be able to put up some points on the road. Playing at Boise State is always a challenge however, Washington State is a quality football team and I just think getting this many points in this one. Take Washington State and the points.
