The Nicholls State Colonels and Georgia Bulldogs clash Saturday afternoon at Sanford Stadium.
The Nicholls State Colonels open the season with this tough road game after finish last year with a 3-8 record. Tuskani Figaro returns at quarterback after throwing for 925 yards and four touchdowns last season. Figaro must have a big game in order to keep this contest close. C.J. Bates and Josh Singleton return after coming for more than 400 receiving yards and three touchdowns while Jarrell Rogers had 12 receptions. The Nicholls State Colonels ground game is averaged 181.5 yards per contest, and Figaro led the way with 456 yards and five touchdowns. The Georgia Bulldogs look to build on their impressive comeback win over North Carolina. Jacob Eason is completing 66.7 percent of his passes for 131 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions. Eason now has 12 career pass attempts under his belt. Isaiah McKenzie and Michael Chigbu have combined for 149 receiving yards and one touchdown while Terry Godwin has one reception. The Georgia Bulldogs ground game is averaging 289 yards per contest, and Nick Chubb leads the way with 222 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Georgia is allowing 24 points and 315 yards per game. Malkom Parrish leads the Bulldogs with seven tackles, David Marshall has one sack and Maurice Smith has two pass deflections.
This is one of those games where the favorite could top to total by themselves. Nicholls State has nothing for the Bulldogs defensively, as this is a club that got rocked defensively all last season, which included giving up 48 points to a subpar Colorado squad. Georgia should score a lot in this game and may even give up a cheap score or two.
The over here is a solid bet.
