The Line: Houston Cougars -43.5 -- Over/Under: 66.5 See the Latest Odds

The Lamar Cardinals and Houston Cougars meet Saturday afternoon at TDECU Stadium on ESPN3.

The Lamar Cardinals could use a nice upset victory after losing to Coastal Carolina opening week. Carson Earp is completing 48 percent of his passes for 154 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions. Earp has to be more effective in order for Lamar to have any chance. Marcus Daggs and DeAndre Jennings have combined for 89 receiving yards on seven catches while DeWan Thompson has one reception. The Lamar Cardinals ground game is averaging 237 yards per contest, and Kad Harington leads the way with 207 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Lamar is allowing 38 points and 407 yards per game. Davon Jernigan leads the Cardinals with 14 tackles, William Wowkanyn has one tackle for loss and Chaston Brooks has one pass deflection.

Houston vs. Lamar - 9/10/16 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Houston Cougars look to build on their impressive upset win over the Oklahoma Sooners. Greg Ward Jr. is completing 57.5 percent of his passes for 321 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. Ward has three touchdown passes in his last two games. Steven Dunbar and Linell Bonner have combined for 188 receiving yards on 11 catches while Isaiah Johnson has two receptions. The Houston Cougars ground game is averaging 89 yards per contest, and Duke Catalon leads the way with 88 yards on 22 carries. Defensively, Houston is allowing 23 points and 393 yards per game. Brandon Wilson leads the Cougars with 10 tackles, Steven Taylor has two sacks and B.J. Singleton has two quarterback hurries.

Lamar may be a bad football team, but this is a letdown game for Houston. It won't be easy to wake up for Lamar after just getting hyped and taking down Oklahoma. Also, the Cards can compete, as it dropped 31 points on Baylor last season and lost three of their six games by one score.

I'll take a stab with the points here.
