The defensive minded Vanderbilt Commodores have struggled to move the chains and find the endzone in the past and 2016 began the same way in a 13-10 defeat to visiting South Carolina in week one. The Gamecocks mustered a 308-242 advantage in real estate and survived a pair of lost fumbles as well. Vandy’s strength was on the ground where Ralph Webb totaled 97 yards on 20 carries with Khari Blasingame ran for 68 yards on 15 touches with a trip to the endzone. The Commodores did struggle to move the chains through the air with quarterback Kyle Shurmur completing 8-22 for 73 yards which wasn’t enough to worry the South Carolina secondary.
The Blue Raiders are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous games and are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game while the under is 4-0 in Blue Raiders last 4 vs. a team with a losing record. The Commodores are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 vs. CUSA while the under is 8-0-1 in Commodores last 9 games on fieldturf. The road team is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings and the underdog is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings. I think I’d rather take my chances with the points…
