The Ohio Bobcats were outscored 56-54 in triple overtime to visiting Texas State as a 20 point favorite. Ohio rolled up 630 yards of offense but could not get stops with 546 yards allowed with both teams combining for five turnovers. Even though Ohio was more balanced Tyler Jones paced Texas State with 418 passing yards and four scores. Ohio quarterback Greg Windham was no slouch with 380 yards and four touchdowns on 27-45 with Papi White and Jordan Reid combining for 221 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 32 catches. Dorian Brown gave Ohio 77 yards on 18 rushes and Maleek Irons added 62 yards as the offense moved the chains but could not slow the passing of Texas State.
The Kansas Jayhawks have been non factors in the Big 12 and are hoping to change that in 2016. The Jayhawks enjoyed a walk in the park in crushing FCS Rhode Island 55-6 on opening day behind dominant performances on both sides of the ball. KU racked up a 570-219 advantage in yards while winning the turnover battle 3-2 which hurt the Rams more. KU quarterback Montell Cozart hit on 18-2-5 for 199 yards and three TD’s before Ryan Willis came in to go 7-9 for 144 yards and two more scores. Steven Sims Jr. paced Kansas with five catches for 124 yards and two TD’s with LaQuvionte Gonzalez snagging seven balls for 78 yards while Ke’aun Kinner was tops on the ground with 69 yards on seven touches.
The over is 6-0 in Bobcats last 6 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game and is 4-0 in Bobcats last 4 non-conference games while the Bobcats are 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game. The Jayhawks are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 versus the MAC and are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games following a straight up win while the over is 6-1 in Jayhawks last 7 games following a straight up win of more than 20 points. Ohio really looked bad in their opener and maybe Kansas tears down the goalposts like they did after beating Rhode Island…
