The West Virginia Mountaineers look for a quick 2-0 start after beating up on Missouri week 1. Skyler Howard is completing 65.7 percent of his passes for 253 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception. Howard has six touchdown passes in his last two games. Daikiel Shorts Jr. and Shelton Gibson have combined for 170 receiving yards on 14 catches while Ka'Raun White has two receptions. The West Virginia Mountaineers ground game is averaging 241 yards per contest, and Justin Crawford leads the way with 101 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, West Virginia is allowing 11 points and 462 yards per game. Antonio Crawford leads the Mountaineers with eight tackles, Justin Arndt has one sack and Rasul Douglas has one pass deflection.
West Virginia has a couple of banged up players on the offensive side of the ball and Youngstown State has some players. Remember, the Penguins nearly beat Pittsburgh on the road last season. Also, Youngstown State lost five of its six games by one score. WVU has the firepower to blow the Penguins off the field, but we've seen enough consistency to think this game can be somewhat close.
Give me the points.
