Kelly/Shorts Stadium and the Central Michigan Chippewas welcome the UNLV Rebels to town.
The UNLV Rebels do look like an improved squad but certainly not improved enough with UCLA as their week two road trip to the Bruins resulted in a 42-21 spanking as a 27 point underdog. The Bruins amassed a 500-328 yardage edge which made the Rebels two turnovers hurt even more. UNLV needed a big day on the ground to keep their defense off the field and although it was big, it wasn’t big enough. Lexington Thomas paced the Rebels on the ground with 112 yards and a touchdown on 19 touches while quarterback Johnny Stanton added 46 yards and another TD on ten touches. Stanton struggled to give UNLV consistency in the air with 153 yards with a score and a pair of interceptions on 11-28 with Devonte Boyd snagging five balls for 84 yards.

The Central Michigan Chippewas have to be sky high as a flea-flicker with zeros on the clock gave them a 30-27 road upset of Oklahoma State in week two. CMU outgained the Cowboys 418-338 behind a one dimensional passing attack with the run going nowhere. CMU totaled around 70 yards on the ground for less then 2 ½ yards per carry so the team turned to the air. Chips quarterback Cooper Rush was outstanding as he completed 30-42 for 381 yards with four touchdowns and an interception with Tyler Conklin hauling in seven balls for 96 yards and a pair of scores while Jesse Kroll had six receptions for 91 yards.
The Chippewas are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games in September and are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games after accumulating less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game while going 7-1 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games. This is just a lean on Central Michigan letting down…
