On Saturday, September 17, there’s a big-time ACC matchup headed our way from Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium as the Florida State Seminoles will meet up with the Louisville Cardinals.
Florida State is fresh off a dominant 52-8 win over Charleston Southern, which gives the Seminoles a 2-0 record on the season. The big star in Week 2 was Florida State QB Deondre Francois, as he logged 262 yards with three touchdowns. Dalvin Cook played well at RB also, with his 83 yards and two touchdowns. That gives Cook a total of 34 rushes for 174 yards on the season for the Seminoles. Travis Rudolph had a big Week 2 for Florida State as well, grabbing seven receptions for two scores and 105 total yards. That gives Rudolph a total of 13 catches for 179 yards and three scores. As for Francois, he’s got 681 yards passing with five touchdowns and one interception.

Over on the Louisville side, they’ve been quite impressive as well. The Cardinals are also coming in 2-0, following a big Week 2 victory over Syracuse 62-28. The big Week 2 star for Louisville was QB Lamar Jackson, who put up four rushing touchdowns and one passing score on the day. Jackson bagged 411 yards on a 20-of-39 line in that one, giving him 697 yards with seven passing touchdowns on the season. It’s also important to note that Jackson leads the Cardinals in rushing with 318 yards and six touchdowns through the first two games. RB Brandon Radcliff wasn’t totally left out of Week 2, however, as he would finish with 10 rushes for 156 yards and a score. Jamari Staples led the Cardinals in receiving Week 2, collecting five grabs for 136 yards. That gives Staples a team-high nine grabs for 219 yards for Louisville.
The Seminoles are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games against a team with a winning home record, and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a straight-up win of more than 20 points. Florida State is also 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall, and 4-1 ATS in their last five conference games.
As for the Cardinals, they’re 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games against a team with a winning road record, and 2-5 ATS in their last seven conference games. Louisville is also 4-0 ATS in their last four games in September, and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Everybody’s talking about Louisville right now, and the Cardinals could do some real damage in the ACC this year. I’m on the bandwagon after two strong performances, so I’ll take Louisville to get the victory in this one with another big game from Jackson.
