The LSU Tigers and the Mississippi State Bulldogs face off on Saturday in Baton Rouge in SEC college football action.
The LSU Tigers bounced back from their disappointing season opening loss to Wisconsin with a win over FCS Jacksonville State but they still seem to have some big questions to be answered. The LSU offense is averaging 24 points and 314 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 5 times. Brandon Harris is still LSU’s QB completing just 52 percent of his passes with one touchdown and two interceptions but Danny Etling may be pressing him after starting last week out completing six of his first eight passes after replacing Harris. In the Tigers backfield Leonard Fournette is banged up and questionable for this one but Derrius Guice has been playing well running for 7.5 yards per carry. Travin Dural is the Tigers top receiver with 6 catches and Malachi Dupre has just 3 catches for 24 yards to start the year. The LSU defense is allowing 14.5 points and 353.5 yards per game with three interceptions, a fumble recovery, and five sacks. Kendell Beckwith is LSU’s leading tackler with 17, Rickey Jefferson has 13 tackles, and Duke Riley has 12 tackles. There are already grumblings once again that head coach Les Miles could be on his way out of LSU.

Gray and Richie Brown are the leading tacklers for the Bulldogs with 16 each and Leo Lewis has 13 tackles. Mississippi State is still trying to prove they are still a solid team even with Dak Prescott now in the NFL.
LSU is 4-1 against the spread following a win, 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games, and 1-4 against the spread in September. Mississippi State is 15-6 against the spread in their last 21 SEC games and 4-1 against the spread in September games. Mississippi State is 5-13 against the spread in their last 18 games against LSU.
This is a bundle of points for a conference game especially for a struggling offense like LSU so I will take the points.
