The Ole Miss Rebels and the Alabama Crimson Tide face off on Saturday in a college football battle of SEC titans.
The Ole Miss Rebels bounced back from their opening week loss to Florida State with a win over Wofford but the opening loss makes this a must win game if they are hoping to make it to the CFB Playoff. The Mississippi offense is averaging 36 points and 398 yards per game but they have turned the ball over five times. Rebels QB Chad Kelly has completed 62.1 percent of his passes with seven touchdowns and three interceptions so far. Akeem Judd leads the Ole Miss rushing attack with a 5.7 yards per carry average and Evan Engram is the top receiver with 11 catches and Damore’ea Stringfellow has 8 catches. The Ole Miss defense is allowing 29 points and 442.5 yards per game with a fumble recovery and five sacks. Zedrick Woods is Mississippi’s top tackler with 15, Terry Caldwell has 14 tackles, and DeMarquis Gates has 13 tackles including 2 sacks. Ole Miss just isn’t creating the turnovers and is giving up big yardage and that will need to improve quickly if they hope to beat Alabama once again.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are the number one ranked team in the nation and thus far they haven’t done anything on the football field to show they aren’t worthy of that ranking. The Alabama offense is averaging 45 points and 470 yards per game and they have turned the ball over three times. Crimson Tide QB Jalen Hurts ahs completed 61.7 percent of his passes with four touchdowns and an interception and he has rushed for two touchdowns. Damien Harris has been Bama’s top ball carrier with 183 yards and Calvin Ridley has 11 catches and a touchdown and ArDarius Benn has nine catches with 3 touchdowns. The Alabama defense is allowing just 8 points and 216.5 yards per game with 3 interceptions and 7 sacks. Minkah Fitzpatrick is Alabama’s top tackler with 11 while Reuben Foster and Anthony Averett each have 10 tackles. Alabama has looked tough so far but they have not been able to solve Ole Miss in recent years.
Ole Miss is 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 home games, 2-5 against the spread following a win, and 4-1 against the spread at home against a team with a winning road record. Alabama is 6-1 against the spread in their last seven road games, 7-2 against the spread in their last nine games, and 6-2 against the spread following a win. The underdog is 8-3 against the spread in the last 11 meetings of these two teams.
A loss here and Ole Miss is done for the year while Alabama has revenge on their mind making this one a physical and hard hitting matchup. Ole Miss seems to have a roster that matches up well with Bama and getting the points at home the Rebels are the play.
