The SMU Mustangs hope to get a game above .500 when they play their first home game. Ben Hicks is completing 41.5 percent of his passes for 374 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. Hicks enters this game with 53 career pass attempts under his belt. Courtland Sutton and James Proche have combined for 431 receiving yards and four touchdowns while Mitchell Kaufman has three receptions. The SMU Mustangs ground game is averaging 224 yards per contest, and Ke'Mon Freeman leads the way with 120 yards on 24 carries. Defensively, SMU is allowing 30.5 points and 465 yards per game. Darrion Millines leads the Mustangs with 16 tackles, Justin Lawler has 3.5 sacks and Horace Richardson has two interceptions.
Liberty was beat up by an average Virginia Tech team opening week and has had issues with turnovers in the first two games. SMU was able to hold its own in back-to-back road games and that includes racking up more than 400 yards against a ranked Baylor squad. The Mustangs should be able to get the job done here and will be up for this contest considering its the first home game of the season.
Give me SMU in a blowout.
