The East Carolina Pirates are 2-0 this season and are coming off of a 3-point win over NC State. ECU is averaging 42.5 points and 566.5 yards per game and they have turned the ball over three times. Pirates QB Phillip Nelson has completed 81.3 percent of his passes with 6 touchdowns and an interception and he has rushed for another touchdown. Anthony Scott is ECU’s top rusher with 164 yards and two touchdowns and James Summers has 136 yards and 2 touchdowns. Zay Jones leads the Pirates with 17 receptions and a touchdown, Quay Johnson has 16 catches and a touchdown, and Anthony Scott has 15 catches and 3 touchdowns. The East Carolina defense is allowing 18.5 points and 408.5 yards per game with one interception, one fumble recovery, and one sack. Jordan Williams leads ECU’s defense with 13 tackles, Terrell Richardson has 11 tackles, and Yiannis Bowden has 10 tackles. ECU is looking to beat it’s second FBS power 5 conference team in as many weeks.
South Carolina is 4-1 against the spread in their last five non-conference games, 2-7 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 1-4 against the spread after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game. East Carolina is 13-3 against the spread in their last 16 non-conference games, 9-2 against the spread in September games, and 5-14 against the spread after allowing more than 280 yards in their previous game.
I don’t see how South Carolina keeps up in this one and I look for ECU to get the cover comfortably.
