The Stanford Cardinal opened the season with a solid, albeit unspectacular 26-13 victory versus visiting Kansas State as a 12 point favorite. Bill Snyder just didn’t have the horses to get the job done despite a 335-277 edge in yardage with a safety and a pair of turnovers doing them no favors. Cardinal quarterback Ryan Burns connected on 14-18 for 156 yards and a touchdown with Michael Rector grabbing four balls for 73 yards including a 60 yard scoring strike. Christian McCaffrey led USC on the ground with 126 yards on 22 totes with a pair of touchdowns while catching seven passes for 40 yards.
The Trojans are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game and are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up win of more than 20 points while going 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game. The Cardinal are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating less than 275 total yards in their previous game and the over is 4-0 in Cardinal last 4 games following a straight up win while the under is 4-1 in Cardinal last 5 games following a bye week. The underdog is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 meetings and the road team is 9-3 ATS in their last 12 meetings while the Trojans are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 meetings. I’ll lean Stanford but I don’t know if I’d bet a two spread game…
