The Duke Blue Devils look for the road upset of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in week 4.
The Duke Blue Devils offense struggled for the second straight week in a 24-13 defeat at Northwestern that dropped their record to 1-2. Both teams finished in the 400 yard ranges with two turnovers apiece but the Wildcats passing attack won it. Blue Devils quarterback Daniel Jones had a productive day in the air on 24-47 for 279 yards and an interception with TJ Rahming snaring eight balls for 70 yards leading eight receivers. The Duke rushing attack was fine but they didn’t run often with Jela Duncan and Jones combining for 100 yards on 21 carries with Duncan scoring. The Blue Devils looked to be able to move the ball but they couldn’t find the endzone.

My guess is that Notre Dame is disappointed and angry as they fell to 1-2 following a 36-28 defeat at the hands of visiting Michigan State as a 7.5 point favorite. The Spartans won the yardage battle 501-401 with the Irish giving the ball away three times. While MSU had the ability to both run and throw with equal effectiveness, the Fighting Irish were one dimensional with no ability to run the ball. with less then a 2 ½ yard average. Notre Dame quarterback DeShone Kizer kept his team competitive by connecting on 20-37 for 344 yards with three touchdowns and an interception with Torii Hunter Jr. and Equanimeous St. Brown combining for nine receptions for 178 yards with the latter scoring.
The under is 10-1 in Blue Devils last 11 games in September and the Blue Devils are 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game while going 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. The Fighting Irish are 0-7-1 ATS in their last 8 games after accumulating less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game and the over is 10-1 in Fighting Irish last 11 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game while the Fighting Irish are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game. I suspect we will see a motivated and angry Irish squad…
