The Western Michigan Broncos take their unbeaten record to the Central Michigan Chippewas in week five.
The Western Michigan Broncos have been impressive thus far with a 4-0 record and to me, their 49-31 victory versus visiting Georgia Southern was as good as it gets. WMU only held a 415-370 yardage edge but this game had contributions from several areas with a 100 yard kick return, a pick six and a defense that held the Eagles vaunted option to 202 yards and a four yard average. Jamauri Bogan gave the Broncos a solid rushing attack with 104 yards on 26 totes with a score but the air game was spectacular. Western Michigan quarterback Zach Terrell hit on 18-27 for 270 yards and four touchdowns with Michael Henry leading the receiving corps with 125 yards and a pair of TD’s on eight receptions.

The Central Michigan Chippewas rattled off three straight wins to kick off the year before struggling to get stops in a 49-35 loss at Virginia as a touchdown underdog. The Cavaliers won the yardage battle 573-496 and were hurt by a lack of a running gam that averaged less then three yards per carry. CMU quarterback Cooper Rush tried to carry the offense himself with quite a bit of success with 402 yards with a pair of touchdowns and an interception on 35-45 while Corey Willis caught passes for 145 yards and a pair of scores while Tyler Conklin totaled six receptions for 97 yards. Even though the Chippewas defense was moved on the unit did record a pick six.
If I were a team with something at stake, Central Michigan is not a team I’d want to see especially quarterback Cooper Rush who can throw the ball all over the field. I have the same opinion of Western Michigan who can defend and score and their QB Zach Terrell isn’t a slouch. Right now I’ll back the small road chalk…
