University Stadium and the New Mexico Lobos host the unbeaten Boise State Broncos.
The Boise State Broncos have not always been impressive in 2016 but at the end of the day they are still 4-0. The Broncos avenged last season’s loss at Utah State by shutting down the Aggies 21-10 in week five as a 24 point favorite. BSU only won the yardage battle 384-358 but had some balance as USU had zero running. Jeremy McNichols was the Broncos offensive star with a team high 132 rushing yards on 30 carries while combining with Thomas Sperback for eleven receptions for 137 yards and a TD apiece. Boise State quarterback Brett Rypien connected on 15-24 for 163 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Cedric Wilson was 1-1 with a 61 yard scoring strike.

There is no doubt the New Mexico Lobos have plenty of firepower on offense but their issue has been stopping opponents. The Lobos picked up their second win of the season in a 48-41 victory versus visiting San Jose State as a 10.5 point favorite. The run heavy Lobos amassed 446 yards on the ground on the way to outgaining the Spartans 491-443 with a 37 yard pick six. UNM quarterback Lamar Jordan was 4-8 for 45 yards for an interception while using his legs to gain another 45 yards. Teriyon Gipson topped all New Mexico runners with 156 yards and a TD on eleven totes followed by Tyrone Owens rambled for 117 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.
The over is 4-0 in Boise State’s last 4 Friday games and is 5-0 in Boise State’s last 5 games on grass while the under is 5-1 in Boise State’s last 6 games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game. The over is 4-0 in New Mexico’s last 4 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game and is 6-0 in New Mexico’s last 6 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game while going 4-0 in New Mexico’s last 4 home games. Boise State are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 meetings and the underdog is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings.
I think sometimes I live in the past when talking about Boise State and give them more credit then they deserve because they aren’t as good as several years ago. The Broncos should stop the Lobos on the ground and win big and when I say ‘should’ that’s the best I can do…
