Down at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater on Saturday, October 8, the Iowa State Cyclones will visit with the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Week 6 college football activity.
Iowa State comes into this game at a tepid 1-4 on the season. The Cyclones’ most recent loss came this past Saturday in a 45-42 heartbreaker against Baylor. ISU was up by 14 heading into the fourth quarter in that one, but allowed Baylor to score 17 straight points (including the game-winning field goal as time ran out) in the final frame. Cyclones QB Joel Lanning had a solid game with a 17-of-23 mark for 261 yards and two touchdowns (plus one rushing TD), while Trever Ryan led the way in receiving with five catches for 75 yards. RB Mike Warren had a great day on the ground for Iowa State, carrying 30 times for 130 yards and two touchdowns.

So far this season for the Cyclones, Lanning has managed to go 60-of-100 for 866 yards and seven touchdowns. Warren leads Iowa State in rushing with 91 carries for 386 yards and three scores, while Allen Lazard is tops in the receiving game with 21 receptions for 328 yards and two TDs.
Over on the Oklahoma State side, they’re coming into this game at 3-2 on the year and are fresh off a 49-31 victory over Texas last Saturday. Interestingly enough, the Cowboys blocked three extra points in that game, tying a school record. QB Mason Rudolph paced a hot Oklahoma State offense here with a 19-of-28 line for 392 yards and three touchdowns, with Jalen McCleskey benefitting the most on four receptions for 109 yards and two scores. The Cowboys were great on the ground as well, with Justice Hill posting 25 carries for 135 yards and a TD.
On the year for Oklahoma State, Rudolph has produced a 117-for-187 mark for 1688 yards and nine touchdowns, while James Washington leads the receiving corps on 28 receptions for 579 yards and four scores. Hill is far and away the Cowboys rushing leader with his 69 carries for 346 yards and two touchdowns.
Iowa State is 4-1 ATS in their last five conference games, and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games following a straight-up loss. Iowa State is also 3-9-1 ATS versus a team with a winning record, and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games in October.
As for Oklahoma State, they’re 22-10 ATS versus a team with a losing record, and 35-17-1 ATS in their last 53 games in October. Oklahoma State is also 1-4 ATS in their last five conference games, and 0-4 ATS in their last four games following a straight-up win.
Iowa State has enjoyed something of an offensive renaissance over the past two games, scoring a combined 86 points in those two matchups. This will play into the Cyclones’ favor on Saturday, as Oklahoma State has allowed at least 30 points in each of their last four games. On the other side, the Cowboys have scored at least 24 points in every game this season, and have bagged at least 45 points in each of their three victories. As such, I fully expect Oklahoma State to get the victory here, but I think Iowa State can cover what’s quite a thick line this week. The over looks like a decent play here as well, as there's bound to be a lot of scoring on both sides.
