The Maryland Terrapins look to stay perfect when they visit the Penn State Nittany Lions in week six.
Some say they don’t really know what the Maryland Terrapins are yet but we will soon find out as the Big Ten schedule gets hot and heavy. I do know the Terrapins are far better then Purdue after a 50-7 rout in week five behind a 496-205 edge in yards. The Terps dominated the trenches and held the Boilermakers to ten yards on the ground while rolling up 400 rushing yards. Maryland quarterback Perry Hills went 8-13 for 87 yards with a pair of touchdowns and an interception with Teldrick Morgan catching five yard and eleven yard TD’s. Ty Johnson was the Terrapins workhorse on the ground with 204 yards on a mere seven carries and two scores while Lorenzo Harrison added a 62 yard scoring jaunt.

I think that the Penn State Nittany Lions are similar to Maryland in that they are a bit of an unknown especially in the Big Ten where there are a few obvious powers and everybody else. The Nittany Lions evened their conference record at 1-1 with a 29-26, overtime victory versus visiting Minnesota as a three point favorite. Both teams finished with around 470 yards with the balanced Golden Gophers battling pass heavy PSU. Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley connected on 19-41 for 335 yards and a touchdown while running for 73 yards on eight carries and a six yard scoring burst. Irvin Charles caught an 80 yard touchdown pass while Chris Godwin led Penn State with four receptions for 97 yards.
Maryland are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game and Maryland are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games in October while the over is 4-0 in Maryland’s last 4 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game. The over is 5-0 in Penn State’s last 5 games overall and is 5-0 in Penn State’s last 5 conference games while going 4-0 in Penn State’s last 4 games on grass.
I don’t think Penn State will be able to stop the Terrapins on the ground but my gut says the Terps are better then we think…
