The Line: Miami-FL Hurricanes -1.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

Down at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, the Florida State Seminoles and the Miami Hurricanes will be clashing in Week 6 college football action on Saturday, October 8.

The Seminoles enter this game with a 3-2 record following a crushing defeat at the hands of North Carolina this past Saturday. In that one, the Tar Heels buried Florida State with a last-second field goal that made the result 37-35. Seminoles QB Deondre Francois was effective on 30-of-32 passing with 372 yards, but couldn’t find the end zone through the air. That task was left up to Seminoles RB Dalvin Cook, who carried 29 times for 140 yards and three touchdowns. Jesus Wilson led Florida State with six receptions for 120 yards overall.

So far this year for the Seminoles, Francois is 96-of-153 for 1323 yards and seven touchdowns, and Cook has carried 107 times for 635 yards and seven touchdowns of his own. Wilson leads Florida State in receiving with 22 catches for 340 yards and one score.

Looking over at Miami, they’re sitting pretty at 4-0 right now, following a 35-21 win over Georgia Tech in their last appearance. The Hurricanes got two touchdowns from their defense in that one (fumbles returned for scores) to help things along. Miami QB Brad Kaaya posted a 13-of-19 line for 241 yards and a TD in that one, while Joseph Yearby rushed for 65 yards and a TD on nine carries. Stacy Coley led the Hurricanes in receiving with four grabs for 75 yards and a score.

So far on the year for the Hurricanes, Kaaya has 935 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions, while Mark Walton leads the way on the ground with 63 carries for 445 yards and eight touchdowns. Ahmmon Richards is Miami’s leading receiver with 11 grabs for 246 yards and one score.

Florida State is 6-1 ATS in their last seven games following a straight-up loss, and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games on grass. Florida State is also 4-1 ATS in their last five games following an ATS loss, and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall.

Meanwhile, Miami is 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall, and 5-0 ATS in their last five games on grass. Miami is also 4-1 ATS in their last five games in October, and 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a straight-up win.

The Seminoles have taken quite a tumble in the national standings in recent weeks, and they need to stop the bleeding immediately. As for the Hurricanes, their schedule will get a little tougher here in the middle stages, as the’ve faced some sub-par competition at the beginning of the season. Still, Miami has taken care of business in those games (in an impressive way) and stands a great chance at stomping FSU even further down in the standings. I’ll take the Hurricanes for the victory and cover in this one.
