Louisiana Tech jumped all over the Hilltoppers and was able to hang on for the victory after taking a 52-31 lead into the 4th quarter. Massachusetts vs. LA Tech - 10/15/16 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Massachusetts Minutemen lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 1-5 on the season after being defeated by the Old Dominion Monarchs, 36-16, this past Saturday. Massachusetts had a tough time slowing down the Monarchs rushing attack and allowed the Monarchs to score the last 14 points of the game in the loss. Massachusetts was outgained by a 522-396 margin and lost the turnover battle by a 2-0 margin. Leading the way for the Minutemen was RB Marquis Young who had a TD and 153 rushing yards on 22 carries. On the season, Massachusetts is averaging just 18.3 ppg on 303.7 total yards per game (209.2 passing, 94.5 rushing). Offensively, the Minutemen have been led by RB Marquis Young who has 2 TD and is averaging 82.33 yds/game. QB Andrew Ford has completed 60.7% of his passes for 10 TD and 7 INT while averaging 169.8 passing yds/game. WR Andy Isabella (4.7 rec/g, 64.2 yds/g, 4 TD), TE Adam Breneman (4.7 rec/g, 49.3 yds/g, 2 TD), and WR Jalen Williams (1.2 rec/g, 24.8 yds/g, 3 TD) have been the leading receivers for Massachusetts. Defensively, Massachusetts is allowing their opponents to average 29.5 ppg on 431.7 total yards per game (224.3 passing, 207.3 rushing). Massachusetts has completed 11 turnovers on the season and have a turnover margin of -11.

The Bulldogs are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 non-conference games and 25-12 ATS in their last 37 road games. The Minutemen are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 home games and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games in October.

Louisiana Tech was able to pick up a big win over Western Kentucky last week and comes into this matchup with the 5th ranked passing offense in College Football. Massachusetts came into this season with low expectations after losing the majority of their talent from last year’s squad and even though they are just 1-5 on the season, they did play two SEC teams (Florida & Mississippi State) tough earlier in the year. Louisiana Tech is a better team than their record indicates as their three losses came in close games on the road against Arkansas, Texas Tech, and MTSU and as I think the Bulldogs will be able to have their way on offense against the Minutemen, I’m taking Louisiana State to cover this large road spread. Take Louisiana State to cover.
