The UConn Huskies will travel to Raymond James Stadium to take on the South Florida Bulls this Saturday night in College Football action.

The UConn Huskies improved to 3-3 (1-2 AAC) after defeating the Cincinnati Bearcats, 20-9, this past Saturday. Cincinnati took an early 9-0 lead in the 2nd quarter from three Josh Pasley FG’s, however, this would be all the scoring the Bearcats would get as the UConn defense was outstanding throughout the game. UConn outgained Cincinnati by a 412-317 margin however, did lose the turnover battle by a 2-1 margin. Leading the way for UConn was QB Bryant Shirreffs who completed 18 of 33 passes for 224 yards, 2 TD, and 2 INT while also chipping in 52 yards on the ground. On the season, UConn is averaging 19.8 ppg on 360.8 total yards per game (226.3 passing, 134.5 rushing). Offensively, UConn has been led by WR Noel Thomas, Jr who has 3 TD’s on the season while averaging 105.2 yds/g on 9.2 rec/g. QB Bryant Shirreffs has completed 61.1% of his passes for 5 TD and 4 INT while averaging 213.7 passing yds/g. Shirreffs is also the 2nd leading rusher for the Huskies has he has 2 rushing TD’s on the season and is averaging 41.83 rushing yds/game. Also in the backfield for UConn have been Arkeel Newsome (12.0 att/g, 56.7 yds/g, 2 TD) and Ron Jonson (8.3 att/g, 28.0 yds/g, 4 TD). Defensively, UConn is holding their opponents to an average of 23.5 ppg on 396.8 total yards per game (298.0 passing, 98.8 rushing). USF vs. UCONN - 10/15/16 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The South Florida Bulls won their 2nd straight game and improved to 5-1 (2-0 AAC) on the season after defeating the East Carolina Pirates, 38-22, this past Saturday. In what was a close game through, South Florida needed two late 4th-quarter TD’s to pull away from the Pirates and secure the win. South Florida outgained East Carolina by a 556-476 margin and had 306 rushing yards in the victory. Leading the way for the Bulls was QB Quinton Flowers who completed 21 of 29 passes for 250 yards and 3 TD’s while also chipping 115 rushing yards on 16 carries. On the season, South Florida has averaged 44.5 ppg on 502.7 total yards per game (242.2 passing, 260.5 rushing). Offensively, the Bulls have been led by duel-threat QB Quinton Flowers who has completed 57.6% of his passes for 11 TD and 3 INT while averaging 220.3 passing yds/game. Flowers is also the 2nd leading rusher for South Florida as he has 4 rushing TD’s on the season and averaging 83.0 rushing yds/game.  Along with Flowers, RB Marlon Mack (13.6 att/g, 97.0 yds/g, 8 TD) and D’Ernest Johnson (8.0 att/g, 46.2 yds/g, 4 TD) make up a very dangerous South Florida backfield. WR Rodney Adams (4.2 rec/g, 69.3 yds/g, 4 TD), Marquez Valdes-Scantling (2.3 rec/g, 37.5 yds/g, TD) and RB D’Ernest Johnson (2.3 rec/g, 26.5 yds/g, 4 TD) have been the main receiving threats in the Bulls passing game. Defensively, South Florida is allowing their opponents to average 25.7 ppg on 445.8 total yards per game (236.0 passing, 209.8 rushing). South Florida has forced their opponents into committing 13 turnovers on the season and has a turnover margin of +7.

The Huskies are 15-35-2 ATS in their last 52 games overall and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 conference games. The Bulls are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 conference games and 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 home games.

UConn picked up a nice win against Cincinnati and although they currently have the 117th ranked scoring offense in the country, have to be encouraged that the offense is headed in the right direction behind WR Noel Thomas who ranked 4th in the country in receptions per game. South Florida is certainly the best team outside of Houston in the AAC and has the 8th ranked scoring offense in the country. South Florida is certainly a very dangerous team that has the talent to beat anyone in the country, however, UConn does have the 11th ranked rushing defense in the country and was able to keep this game this game somewhat low scoring last year, losing a 28-20 battle at home. South Florida has struggled a bit against talented WR’s this season and as I think UConn will be able to put 21 points up on the board, I think the Huskies will do enough on the defensive end to keep this one within the number. Take UConn and the points.
