The Central Michigan Chippewas host the Kent State Golden Flashes in college football action Saturday.
The Central Michigan Chippewas are right in the mix of the postseason with a negotiable college football schedule in the MAC that has many teams banged at key positions. The Chippewas look to bounce back from a 31-17 defeat at Toledo as a ten point underdog where they were outgained 410-344 and committed a pair of turnovers. The Chips didn’t run the ball often but Devon Spaulding totaled 65 yards on ten carries and was the top option. CMU quarterback Cooper Rush completed 18-31 for 229 yards and a touchdown and interception with Tyler Conklin catching five passes for four 74 yards and a four yard TD.
At 2-6, a college football Bowl doesn’t appear to be in the cards for the Kent State Golden Flashes who needed a win versus the visiting Ohio Bobcats but never found their offense in a 14-10 defeat. Defense ruled with the Golden Flashes outgained 345-264 and forcing three turnovers but unable to take advantage of the miscues. Kent quarterback/running back Nick Holley hit on 12-29 for 101 yards but was much more dangerous on the ground with 159 yards on 41 carries including a three yard scoring scamper. Brice Fackler led the Golden Flashes with one catch for 31 yards but asking a running back to lead a passing attack is looking to be far too much.
The under is 5-0 in Kent State last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and Kent State are 1-8 ATS vs. a team with a winning record while the under is 7-1 in Kent State last 8 vs. a team with a winning record. The under is 5-1 in Central Michigan last 6 games in October and Central Michigan are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games following a straight up loss while the over is 4-1 in Central Michigan last 5 vs. a team with a losing record. The favorite is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings.
Nick Holley has become Kent State’s entire offense and I don’t like that so I’m going to look at the total or pass with plenty of games out there….
