The Rice Owls look to slow down the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in college football action Saturday.
The Rice Owls have generally been a competitive college football team but they have literally had nothing go their way in 2016. The Owls picked up their first win of the year in a 65-44 victory versus Prairie View where they made a 45-14 halftime lead hold up as the Owls rolled up a 634-457 yardage edge in what was a scoreboard keeper’s nightmare. Rice quarterback Tyler Stehling enjoyed a career day as he completed 22-31 for 407 yards and five touchdowns with leading receiver Temi Alaka making six catches for143 yards and a score. The Owls had some punch on the ground with Samuel Stewart totaling 116 yards on eleven touches and a TD.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs are a college football team that opponents have to keep an eye on after they won number four in a row in a 44-24 win at Florida International. The Bulldogs took a 27-10 lead in to the locker room and were never in danger. La Tech held a slight 411-398 yardage edge and allowed a 92 yard kick return so the numbers were similar on paper. Bulldogs quarterback Ryan Higgins connected on 22-30 for 289 yards and a pair of touchdowns with receiver Trent Taylor hauling in eleven balls for 156 yards and a TD. Jarred Craft paced Louisiana Tech on the ground with 60 yards on 12 totes but the offense didn’t run a whole lot.
Rice are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and Rice are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game while the over is 6-1 in Rice last 7 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game. The over is 5-0 in Louisiana Tech last 5 games following a straight up win and the over is 6-1 in Louisiana Tech last 7 games overall while going over is 5-1 in Bulldogs last 6 games on fieldturf. The over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
My take on this is whether Rice can get enough stops to stay in this game and does La Tech even care to win huge…
