The Notre Dame Fighting Irish snapped their two-game losing streak and improved to 3-5 on the season after defeating the Miami Hurricanes, 30-27, this past Saturday. Notre Dame raced out to a quick 17-0 lead in the 1st quarter and was able to hang on for the victory with a 23-yard FG by Justin Yoon with :30 seconds left in the game. Notre Dame outgained Miami by a 411-306 margin however, did lose the turnover battle by a 2-1 margin. Leading the way for Notre Dame was QB DeShone Kizer who completed 25 of 38 passes for 263 yards and 2 TD. On the season, Notre Dame is averaging 30.3 ppg on 413.5 total yards per game (263.8 passing, 149.8 rushing). Offensively, the Fighting Irish have been led by QB DeShone Kizer who has completed 59.3% of his passes for 16 TD and 7 INT while averaging 254.8 passing yds/game. DeShone Kizer has also shown he can get it done with his legs as he has 7 rushing TD’s and is the 2nd leading rusher for the Fighting Irish averaging 39.5 yds/game. Leading the Notre Dame backfield has been Josh Adams who had 2 TD’s and averages 63.8 yds/game on 12.6 att/g. Equanimeous St. Brown (4.6 rec/g, 85.4 yds/g, 7 TD), Torii Hunter Jr. (4.3 rec/g, 59.6 yds/g, 2 TD), Kevin Stepherson (1.5 rec/g, 35.9 yds/g, 3 TD), and C.J. Defensively, Notre Dame is allowing their opponents to average 27.6 ppg on 388.1 total yards per game (228.0 passing, 160.1 rushing). Notre Dame has committed 15 turnovers and has an overall turnover margin of -5.
The Midshipmen are 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall however, are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up loss.
Navy has had a solid start to their season thanks to their outstanding rushing attack, however, if the Midshipmen want to continue to pick up wins, they’ll need to find some answers on the defensive end as the Midshipmen have given up 40 ppg over their last 3 games. Notre Dame has had a rough season this year and although they seem to be playing better on the defensive end as of late, the offensive has averaged just 13.3 ppg over their last three games. Notre Dame should be able to find the scoreboard against the Navy defense however, as I think the Midshipmen rushing attack will be able to find success against Notre Dame’s 60th ranked rushing defense, I think Navy will be able to keep this game close and cover with the points. Take Navy and the points.
