The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will travel to Apogee Stadium to take on the North Texas Mean Green this Saturday night in College Football action.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs won their 5th straight game and improved to 6-3 (4-1 C-USA) on the season after defeating the Rice Owls, 61-16, this past Saturday. Louisiana Tech had little trouble defeating the Owls and easily secured the victory after going up by a 41-0 margin at halftime. Louisiana Tech outgained Rice by a 735-305 margin and won the turnover battle by a 2-1 margin. Leading the way for Louisiana Tech was RB Boston Scott who had 3 TD’s and 137 yards on 15 carries. On the season, Louisiana Tech is averaging 44.0 ppg on 555.1 total yards per game (376.0 passing, 179.1 rushing). Offensively, Louisiana Tech is led by the 2nd ranked passing offensive in College Football. Leading the passing attack is QB Ryan Higgins who has completed 68.4% of his passes for 26 TD and 3 INT while averaging 364.3 passing yds/game. Higgins main targets this season have been Trent Taylor (10.3 rec/g, 141.6 yds/g, 9 TD), Carlos Henderson (6.4 rec/g, 129.4 yds/g, 11 TD), and Jarred Craft (3.1 rec/g, 30.4 yds/g, 3 TD). The Bulldogs backfield is led by Jarred Craft (14.1 att/g, 89.4 yds/g, 5 TD), and Boston Scott (4.22 att/g, 38.0 yds/g, 5 TD). Defensively, Louisiana Tech is allowing their opponents to average 29.9 ppg on 417.0 total yards per game (282.0 passing, 135.0 rushing). Louisiana Tech has committed 11 turnovers on the season and has an overall turnover ratio of 0.

The North Texas Mean Green had their 2-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 4-4 (2-2 C-USA) on the season after being defeated by the USTA Roadrunners, 31-17, this past Saturday. North Texas couldn’t find the scoreboard in the 1st half and couldn’t get the comeback victory after falling behind 24-7 entering the 4th quarter. North Texas outgained UTSA by a 409-318 margin however, lost the turnover battle by a 4-0 margin. Leading the way for North Texas was QB Mason Fine who completed 27 of 38 passes for 257 yards, 1 TD, and 2 INT while adding a TD and 91 yards on the ground. On the season, North Texas is averaging 25.9 ppg on 353.9 total yards per game (200.8 passing, 153.1 rushing). Offensviely, the Mean Green have been led by RB Jeffrey Wilson who had 12 TD’s on the season and is averaging 95.9 yds/g on 15.9 att/g. QB Mason Fine has completed 38.4% of his passes for 5 TD and 4 INT while averaging 169.5 passing yds/game. Thaddeous Thompson (3.4 rec/g, 49.0 yds/g, TD), Terian Goree (3.5 rec/g, 33.0 yds/g, TD), Kenny Buyers (2.5 rec/g, 26.8 yds/g, TD), and Willie Robinson (2.0 rec/g, 23.9 yds/g) have been the leading receivers for the Mean Green. Defensively, North Texas is allowing their opponents to average 27.6 ppg on 404.3 total yards per game (202.8 passing, 201.5 rushing). North Texas has forced 15 turnovers on the season and has an overall turnover margin of +2.

The Bulldogs are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Mean Green are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 15-7-1 TS in their last 7 games overall.

Louisiana Tech has been rolling recently as in their last three games, the Bulldogs have averaged 53.7 ppg and have won by an average of 31.0 ppg. North Texas is a much improved team from last year’s 1 -11 squad however, can still struggle to find ways to put points on the board and come into this matchup with just the 109 ranked total offense in College Football. North Texas has been decent at home this season but as they struggled to keep up with the MTSU passing attack in a 30-13 loss at home earlier in the season, I just don’t see how they’ll be able to stop the Louisiana Tech passing attack that seems to be running on all cylinders at the moment. I’m taking Louisiana Tech to cover this large home spread.
