The Texas A&M Aggies and the Ole Miss Rebels face off on Saturday in College Station in week 11 SEC college football action.
The Texas A&M Aggies are 7-2 this season and they are coming off of an upset loss at Mississippi State that cost them their spot in the College Football Playoff. The Texas A&M offense is averaging 37.2 points and 251.3 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 16 times. Aggies QB Trevor Knight never really got into rhythm last week and for the season he has completed 52.5 percent of his passes with 13 touchdowns and 6 interceptions and he has rushed for 583 yards and 10 touchdowns. Trayveon Williams leads Texas A&M in rushing with 804 yards and 6 touchdowns and Christian Kirk is the top receiver with 61 catches and 7 touchdowns and Josh Reynolds has 35 catches and 7 touchdowns. The Aggies defense is allowing 21.4 points and 440.7 yards per game with 11 interceptions, 10 fumble recoveries, and 26 sacks. Justin Evans is Texas A&M’s top tackler with 66, Shaan Washington has 65 tackles, and Armani Watts has 56 tackles. Texas A&M is loaded with top tier talent on both sides of the ball and they have proved they can match up with anyone.
The Ole Miss Rebels are 4-5 this season and they are coming off of a win over Georgia Southern that ended a 3 game losing streak. The Ole Miss offense is averaging 36.1 points and 466.2 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 14 times. Mississippi QB Chad Kelly has completed 62.5 percent of his passes with 19 touchdowns and 8 interceptions and he has rushed for 332 yards and 5 touchdowns but he is out for this one leaving a big void for the Rebels. Akeem Judd leads the Rebels in rushing with 556 yards and 5 touchdowns and Evan Engram is the top receiver with 53 catches and 7 touchdowns in a talented group of receivers. Defensively Ole Miss is allowing 31.9 points and 462.3 yards per game with 7 interceptions, 6 fumble recoveries, and 16 sacks. DeMarquis Gates is Mississippi’s top tackler with 64 tackles including 4 sacks, Zedrick Woods has 54 tackles, and Marquis Haynes has 38 tackles including 5 sacks. This has been a disappointing season for Ole Miss but they still have a chance to make a bowl game if they can win 2 of their last 3 games.
Texas A&M is 6-13 against the spread in their last 19 home games, 1-11 against the spread following a loss, and 0-5 against the spread in their last 5 games. Ole Miss is 1-6 against the spread in their last 7 road games, 1-4 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread, and 4-1 against the spread following a win. Ole Miss has covered the point spread in their last 4 games against Texas A&M.
This is a ton of points and is a clear reflection of just how big of a part of the Ole Miss offense Chad Kelly is. Look for the Aggies to win here and while I like them I probably won’t be going near this one.
