The Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors will travel to Bulldog Stadium (CA) to take on the Fresno State Bulldogs this Saturday night in College Football action.
The Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 4-7 (3-4 MW) on the season after being defeated by the 22nd ranked Boise State Broncos, 52-16, this past Saturday. Hawai’i had no answers for the Boise State offense early in this one and couldn’t fight back after falling behind by a 35-3 margin at halftime. Hawai’i was outgained by Boise State by a 603-359 margin and lost the turnover battle by a 2-0 margin. Leading the way for the Rainbow Warriors was RB Paul Harris who had 145 rushing yards on 14 carries. On the season, Hawai’i is averaging 25.8 ppg on 383.9 total yards per game (213.8 passing, 170.1 rushing). Offensively, Hawai’i has been led by their backfield which includes Diocemy Saint Juste (13.3 att/g, 76.8 yds/g, 2 TD), Paul Harris (6.3 att/g, 45.8 yds/g, 2 TD), and Steven Lakalaka (8.6 att/g, 36.3 yds/g, 10 TD). QB Dru Brown has completed 60.2% of his passes for 10 TD and 6 INT while averaging 167.6 passing yds/g. Marcus Kemp (5.2 rec/g, 84.4 yds/g, 6 TD), John Ursua (3.6 rec/g, 41.9 yds/g, 3 TD), and Dylan Collie (2.4 rec/g, 20.2 yds/g, TD) are the leading receivers for the Rainbow Warriors. Defensively, Hawai’i is allowing their opponents to average 39.5 ppg on 467.2 total yards per game (209.2 passing, 258.0 rushing).

The Fresno State Bulldogs lost their 8th straight game and dropped to 1-9 (0-6 MW) on the season after being defeated by the Colorado State Rams, 37-0, on November 5th. Fresno State had no answers on the offensive end and didn’t have much of a chance after falling behind 23-0 at halftime. Fresno State outgained Colorado State by a 494-232 margin and lost the turnover battle by a 1-0 margin. Leading the way for Fresno State was WR Jamire Jordan who had 64 receiving yards on 3 receptions. On the season, Fresno State is averaging 18.5 ppg on 338.4 total yards per game (230.0 passing, 108.4 rushing). Offensively, Fresno State has been led by QB Chason Virgil who has completed 51.6% of his passes for 13 TD and 10 INT while averaging 202.1 passing yds/g. Fresno State did go with QB Zach Kline in their recent games against the Rams, however, Kline struggled completing 11 of 24 passes for 147 yards and an INT. Leading the way for the Bulldogs backfield is Dontel James who has 4 TD on the season and is averaging 67.3 yds/g on 20.1 att/g. Jamire Jordan (4.2 rec/g, 70.0 yds/g, 2 TD), KeeSean Johnson (6.2 rec/g, 68.2 yds/g, 6 TD), and Aaron Peck (4.1 rec/g, 60.0 yds/g, 3 TD) are the leading receivers for the Bulldogs. Defensively, Fresno State is allowing their opponents to average 34.1 ppg on 437.3 total yards per game (167.1 passing, 270.2 rushing).
The Rainbow Warriors are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 conference games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a double-digit loss at home. The Bulldogs are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 conference games.
Hawai’i was able to get a few conference wins earlier this season however, has struggled as of late as over their last three games, the Rainbow Warriors have been outscored by a 135-37. Fresno State made a coaching change a few weeks ago but it hasn’t seemed to motivate the Bulldogs as Fresno State put up little fight in their recent loss against Colorado State. Hawai’i has struggled however, with two winnable games left on the schedule, the Rainbow Warriors still have an opportunity to make a bowl game and I think Hawai’i used their strong rushing attack to get the win and cover this small spread.
