Chris Petersen was hired to bring Washington Huskies football on to the national stage and he did it in 2016. The 12-1 Huskies were tough on both sides of the ball as they averaged 477 yards and over 40 points with the balance to run or throw equally well. Defensively UW was a top ten unit with 316 yards and just 17 points allowed. Huskies quarterback Jake Browning threw for nearly 3,300 yards with 42 touchdowns and seven picks with John Ross (76-1122), Dante Pettis (50-796) and Chris McCutcher (29-580) giving the passing attack three productive options. When Washington ran the ball, Myles Gaston totaled 1,339 yards while Lavon Coleman (107-836) gave the offense production everywhere.

Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide seem to be attached at the hip along with the National Championship and that is the case in 2016 again (still). The Crimson Tide average 471 yards and 40.5 points while the top ranked defense in the game gives up 248 yards and less then 12 points with the best rush defense in the land giving up a laughable 64 yards per contest. Bama quarterback Jalen Hurts threw for 2,563 yards with 21 scores and nine interceptions on over 65% with ArDarius Stewart and Calvin Ridley combining for 117 receptions for 1,550 yards. The Crimson Tide were formidable on the ground with Damien Harris and Hurts totaling 983 yards and 841 yards respectively while Joshua Jacobs and Bo Scarbrough combining for almost 1,100 yards.
The over is 3-0-1 in Huskies last 4 games after allowing less than 275 total yards in their previous game and the over is 6-0 in Huskies last 6 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game while the Huskies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games in December. The over is 5-1 in Crimson Tide last 6 games in December and the under is 5-1 in Crimson Tide last 6 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game and the Crimson Tide are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game.
I think the world will be on Alabama and I’m not saying they are wrong but while the line moves I’ll take the over…
