The Line: Idaho Vandals -6.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Week two college football comes to the Kibbie Center where the Idaho Vandals host the UNLV Rebels.
The UNLV Rebels will be looking to rebound from a puzzling 43-40 loss at the hands of the Howard Bison who were 45 point underdogs. The Bison were given absolutely no chance and wanted to be competitive and avoid getting blown out. Mission accomplished as the Rebels won the yardage battle 564-449 but lost the turnover battle 3-1 (three fumbles) and the game because Howard totaled over 300 yards on the ground. UNLV was productive through the air with Armani Rogers connecting on 11-19 for 220 yards and a touchdown with Devonte Boyd doing most of the damage at receiver with four receptions for 105 yards including a 25 yard touchdown in the third. The Rebels had zero problem moving the chains on the ground behind 151 yards and a pair of scores from Lexington Thomas while Charles Williams and Rogers combined for 175 yards on 21 touches.

The Idaho Vandals rode a strong second half to a 28-6 victory over FCS Sacramento State as a 22 point favorite to win the season opener for both teams. The Vandals trailed 3-0 in the second quarter but led only 14-6 at the intermission with both squads playing well on the defensive side of the football. Idaho outgained Sacramento State 356-190 and allowed only eight first downs and a 1-15 conversion rate on third down but the offense was not sharp. The Vandals committed three turnovers and converted just 2-11 on third down. Matt Linehan gave the Idaho passing attack a short and efficient effort that saw him complete 11-15 for 163 yards with a pair of touchdowns and two interceptions. The Vandals saw Reuben Mwehla cathch seven passes for 63 yards including a 35 yard score while Jacob Sannon snagged an eight yard touchdown throw. Aaron Duckworth paced the Idaho rushing attack with 142 yards on 19 carries with an 18 yard scoring scamper in the 4th while Isaiah Saunders totaled 78 yards on 13 totes.
The over is 5-0 in UNLV last 5 games in September and the over is 5-0 in UNLV last 5 non-conference games while the over is 22-6 in UNLV last 28 games overall. Idaho are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games on fieldturf and Idaho are 8-0 ATS in their last 8 games overall while Idaho are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games in September.
I am a little shocked from what I saw with UNLV unable to stop Howard but I don’t like to over react and lay a ton of points with Idaho. I am backing the Vandals but giving away points here seems like a necessary evil more then anything…
