The UT-Martin Skyhawks take on the Ole Miss Rebels in week 2 college football action on Saturday afternoon.
The UT-Martin Skyhawks will look for a statement win after opening their season with a 36-0 victory over D-II Clarion. Troy Cook led the team with 192 yards through the air with a pair of touchdowns and an interception, completing 13 of his 28 pass attempts. Ladarius Galloway faw and away led the Skyhawks out of the backfield, taking his 17 carries and turning them into 157 yards and a touchdown, while also hauling in a team-high 3 passes for 41 yards. Ty Brown added a rushing score of his own in the win. Jaylon Moore hauled in a pair of passes for 49 yards while Londell Lee contributed a touchdown as well. The Skyhawks also combined for a pair of interceptions while holding Clarion to 146 yards of total offense.
The Ole Miss Rebels will look to tighten things up after a 47-27 win over South Alabama in their opener. Shea Patterson was the Rebels’ go-to guy under center, completing 28 of his 35 pass attempts for 429 yards and 4 touchdowns. The ground attack for the Rebels struggled however, with D’Vaughn Pennamon putting up 34 yards and a touchdown with his 7 carries. A.J. Brown put up one of the best receiving performances in week one, catching 8 passes for 233 yards and a pair of touchdowns. D.K. Metcalf also caught 8 balls for 84 yards, while DaMarkus Lodge added a pair of touchdowns of his own, catching 5 passes for 51 yards. Jaylon Jones also added a 97-yard kick return TD in the win for Ole Miss.
Ole Miss is 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall. We will update trends for UT-Martin once they’ve been released.
If the opener was a sign of things to come from Patterson and the Rebels, I like what I see. The Rebels look like they've got a point to prove even if they're going to miss out on the postseason this year, so I'll lay the points with Ole Miss in a statement win.
