The San Jose State Spartans and Texas Longhorns meet Saturday in college football action at Royal Texas Memorial Stadium.

USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Longhorns need a bounce back performance after getting beat up by the Maryland Terrapins opening week. The Texas Longhorns have lost three straight home games. Shane Buechele is completing 65.4 percent of his passes for 375 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Buechele has two or more touchdown passes in six of his last nine games. Collin Johnson and Reggie Hemphill-Mapps have combined for 194 receiving yards and one touchdown while Armanti Foreman has five receptions. The Texas Longhorns ground game is averaging 98 yards per contest, and Chris Warren III leads the way with 132 yards on six carries. Defensively, Texas is allowing 51 points and 482 yards per game. Malik Jefferson leads the Texas Longhorns with nine tackles, Charles Omenihu has one sack and Holton Hill has one interception.

The Spartans are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 games in September, 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games on fieldturf and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Longhorns are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games. The under is 7-0 in Longhorns last 7 games overall and the under is 6-2 in Spartans last 8 games overall.

San Jose State has a hard time hanging with teams in the MWC and was just beat up by USF in its season opener. There's little to suggest the Spartans can give the Longhorns a run for their money, especially on the road. However, the Texas Longhorns were downright awful in their opener against a Maryland squad that has less talent across the board. It was so bad that I'm not even considering eating the four touchdown line. They have a new coach, but I saw the same team Charlie Strong was coaching. Maybe the Longhorns actually play to their potential and win in a blowout, but I'm not betting on it. I'm taking my 28 points as a fade from Texas.
