The Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions visit the Arkansas State Red Wolves in college football on Saturday.
The Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions go on the road to take the field with the Arkansas State Red Wolves in a week three tilt. The Golden Lions will be searching for stronger performances on both sides of the ball following a 52-3 defeat at the Akron Zips. APBU were seven touchdown underdogs and fell behind 31-3 at the intermission and never recovered. The Golden Lions were outgained 464-168 and allowed 267 rushing yards while the run game that their own offense desperately needed never materialized making the pass the only chance of moving the chains. Quarterback Brandon Duncan completed 12-23 for 105 yards with no touchdowns and a pair of interceptions including a pick six which APBU could ill afford. Tyrin Ralph paced the Golden Lions receiving corps with three catches for 40 yards while Christian Jordan was the top runner with 30 yards on seven carries.

The Arkansas State Red Wolves look to get their first win of 2017 when the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions visit in week three. The Red Wolves opened the year with a 43-36 defeat at Nebraska where the balanced Cornhuskers were frequent visitors to the endzone. ASU won the yardage battle 497-463 but a pair of turnovers were costly and the defense struggled against both the run and pass. The Red Wolves needed more from the run game to milk the clock and keep the Nebraska offense off the field. Warren Wand was the only ASU runner of note with 69 yards on 12 carries but that wasn’t nearly enough. Quarterback Justice Hansen completed 46-68 throws for 415 yards and three touchdowns and a pair of interceptions but the air attack didn’t stretch the Cornhuskers defense with most gains being short. Kendrick Edwards paced the Arkansas State receiving corps with a 100 yards on eight catches with a score while Chris Murray posted nine receptions for 90 yards and a TD. The Red Wolves did score on a punt return but Nebraska returned a kickoff 99 yards.
This is a massive spread and I would go all in if I was certain the Red Wolves would play hard for 60 minutes. I’m simply not certain right now and will take the points and revisit this later…
