The Florida Atlantic Owls need a shift in momentum when the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats come to town in week three. The Owls faced a tough Wisconsin squad on the road in week two and were saddled with a 31-14 defeat as a 34.5 point underdog. The Owls were humbled 550-253 in the yardage department but somehow kept the Badgers to a lone second half touchdown in a game that was loosely competitive on the scoreboard. FAU were in need of a grind it out, milk the clock rushing attack but Devin Singletary was the only runner of note with 17 carries producing 68 yards and a one yard scoring plunge. Florida Atlantic also struggled to stretch the field via the pass with quarterback Daniel Parr completing 9-19 for 142 yards and a score. DeAndre McNeal gave Florida Atlantic three receptions for 103 yards including a 63 yard touchdown but the offense generally struggled as witnessed by their eleven punts and nine first downs.
